President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has met with the Felidhe Atoll Council members to discuss the development needs of the atoll. The meeting was held at the Secretariat of the Felidhe Atoll Council on Wednesday night.

During the meeting, the Council underscored the importance of expediting the completion of ongoing projects on different islands within the atoll. They proposed a long-term plan of reclaiming a sixth destination or an island instead of reclaiming land on the currently inhabited islands in the atoll. The Council also advocated for the implementation of an operation theatre at the Atoll Hospital and urged the development of a 'picnic island' within Felidhe Atoll.

Additionally, the Atoll Council emphasized the significance of local councils operating independently from the civil service to streamline the recruitment process for new employees. They highlighted that establishing resorts within the atoll would not benefit the residents, and therefore, there is no need for further resort development within the atoll

During the meeting, President Dr Muizzu affirmed that the Administration would address the concerns raised by the Atoll Council. He provided the latest updates on the issues raised by the Council through the Cabinet Ministers and senior Government officials present.
