President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has this evening met with the members of the North Huvadhu Atoll Council.

At the meeting held at Villingili, members of the Atoll council shared information on current projects undertaken in the islands of the Atoll, concerns related to the Atoll and future development projects planned for the development of the Atoll.

The Council members especially noted the challenges being faced in the islands of North Huvadhu Atoll due to the lack of budget and also requested to solve the problems arising in the Atoll due to increased occurrences of criminal activities.

The Atoll Council members laid out specific requirements needed by different islands of the Atoll. In this regard, discussions were held on harbor projects, water, and sanitation, electricity, waste management and sports arena projects required for the Atoll development. Furthermore, information was shared with the President on the social issues and challenges faced in the Atoll.


Speaking at the meeting President Solih stated the government would take necessary action after discussing with the line ministries and tackle these problems. He also stated the work will be done to further empower the councils and in providing a sufficient budget to the councils.
