President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has in separate meetings met with the council members of the Fonadhoo Island Council and senior officials of some institutions of Fonadhoo island this evening.

During this meeting, the members of the council briefed the President on the administration of the council and moreover informed the President on the challenges faced in carrying out the work of the council and briefed the President on the aspirations and requests of the people of Fonadhoo island in developing the community.

Speaking at the meeting President stated that the main purpose of meeting the councils was to inquire on the needs of the people in that community so that the government could prioritize their plans accordingly and work with the people as closely as possible.

In this regards, council members emphasized that their topmost need is to renovate the roads of the islands as they cause extensive damage in operating vehicles and also cause health risks to the community because of dust. Other areas of discussion included the renovation of the harbor project, solving issues in the health sector, developing a central power station and developing sports facilities in the community.

Meeting the heads of some institutions in Fonadhoo island the President inquired about the current situation and the challenges being faced in carrying out the work of the institutions. Further discussions were held on finding solutions to tackle the problems at hand. The issues pointed out during the meeting includes lack of human and capital resources in the health center, space difficulty in the school classrooms, bringing all the government institutions in the island under one roof, the halt of public works in the islands. The heads requested the President to look into these matters and find a solution to these concerns.

Speaking at the meeting President stated that these meetings have brought to light many issues and concerns of the people and that the government would take necessary action after discussing with the line ministries and tackle these problems.
