Reiterating his call for citizens to refrain from activities that could contribute to discord in the community, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that national development is inextricably linked to lasting peace and stability in the country. The President made his remarks at a Press Conference held at the President’s Office this afternoon. 
 
Continuing further, President Solih noted the importance of maintain  peace and stability within the nation. Highlighting on the positive changes brought in after the Presidential election, including an increase in the number of tourists, the President notes that the international reputation of the Maldives is improving and along with it, the economic fortunes of the country. 
 
During the Press Conference, the President assured that he will not allow individuals to spread hatred and discord in the name of religion. The president highlighted that we all belong to the Islamic faith and the constitution as well the nations laws leave no room for doubt  that Islam is the faith of the country and we are unified in its defense. The president also said that calls for violence and threats on social media on the pretext of defending Islam is unacceptable as neither Islam nor the laws permit such acts . President Solih also reassured that such acts will be investigated and justice will be served accordingly. 
 
Speaking at the Press Conference, President elaborated on the  outcome of the official visit made to UAE at the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Expressing that the trip was an overall success, the President noted that discussions were held on securing  financial aid from  UAE for the development of mega projects. 
 
While answering questions from media the President highlighted the successful accomplishment of his 100 day pledges. He further noted that out of 67 pledges earmarked for the first 30 working days, 56 were already accomplished. Moreover he noted that he is happy with progress made on achieving the government’s first 100 working Day objectives. 
 
Answering more media questions the President noted that it’s his administration’s priority to find solutions for issues through state and other government institutions. Moreover, he noted that this administration is working on revitalizing the relations with the Maldives’ international partners. Further the President shared information regarding initiatives under the Public Sector Investment Program. Taking about PSIP the President noted that all the documents are ready and that projects could be opened for bid in the coming weeks.
