Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives, H.E. Keiko Yanai, paid a courtesy call on Vice President Faisal Naseem. The meeting was held this morning, at the President’s Office.

During the call, the Vice President acknowledged and extended deep appreciation for Japan’s generous support and assistance provided to the Maldives over the years. The Vice President also expressed interest to promote the Maldivian tourism industry in Japan. 

The Ambassador and Vice President discussed ways of enhancing cooperation between the Maldives and Japan on a range of bilateral issues, placing special emphasis on the areas of trade, education, sports and health. 

Furthermore, Ambassador Yanai and the Vice President exchanged views on identifying potential areas of mutually beneficial investment opportunities for Japanese businesses in the Maldives.   

Concluding the call, the Ambassador praised the success of the Government’s 100 days agenda and conveyed assurances of Japan’s full support and cooperation in achieving these goals.
