President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has expressed his aspiration to focus on renewable energy in the Maldives. President Solih stated this during the courtesy call made on the President by the United Arab Emirates Minister of Energy & Industry Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei.

President Solih is currently on an official visit to UAE at the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of Armed Forces of the UAE.

Speaking at the call Minister of Energy & Industry of UAE stated that UAE is willing to support such initiatives on renewable energy and mentioned their support to many other large scale renewable projects around the world. He also noted how the price of electricity generated through renewable energy has decreased significantly in the recent years.

Moreover, Minister of Energy & Industry of UAE expressed great potential for renewable energy in the Maldives and that they are ready to support these initiatives and projects.
