The Special Envoy of the Sultan of Oman, Secretary General of Supreme Council for Planning, His Excellency Sultan Bin Salim Al-Habsi paid a courtesy call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom this morning at the President’s Office.

During the call, the President highlighted the excellent relations between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations on 20th February 1981. The President also mentioned that the Government of Maldives hope to further strengthen and build a close business relationship with Oman.

The Special Envoy conveyed the greetings and good wishes from His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said to the Government and the people of the Maldives. The Special Envoy stated that the Government of Oman is interested in expanding opportunities for trade and investment in the Maldives, especially in Tourism and Fisheries.

The President was accompanied in the meeting by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E Ms. Dunya Maumoon, The Foreign Secretary Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed and the Under Secretary at the President’s Office Mr. Mohamed Naseer.
