President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that in order to build a more compassionate society, everyone in the society should show more kindness and compassion. The President stated this while speaking at the ceremony held tonight to open Hulhumale Kudakudhingehiyaa.

In his speech, the President said that, the state is at present providing shelters for homeless children and reassured of the administration's intentions to continue to do so.

The First Lady, Fathimath Ibrahim inaugurated Hulhumale Kudakudhingehiyaa by unveiling the monument representing Kudakudhingehiyaa. At the ceremony, a special video presentation from the children of Kudakudhingehiyaa was presented to the audience. The new building of Kudakudhingehiyaa built in Hulhumale is a charitable donation from a noted philanthropist from United Arab Emirates, Mahmoud Al Khajeh and his family. The new building is designed in a way where girls and boys are brought up separately. Hulhumale Kudakudhingehiyaa is dedicated to sheltering children under the age of 9 years. During this ceremony the President gifted a commemorative gift to the donor of this building, Mahmoud Al Khajeh and his family.

Speaking at the ceremony the President thanked all the corporate organizations and individuals who generously donate to different programs conducted by Kudakudhingehiyaa. The President also thanked the donor of the new premise of Hulhumale Kudakudhinge hiyaa, Mahmoud Al Khajeh on behalf of Maldivians and especially the children who will reside in the shelter.

In addition to the President, Attorney General, Uz. Mohamed Anil, Chief Executive Officer of Kudakudhingehiyaa Ms. Zeenaaz Adnan and Mahmoud Al Khajeh who donated the building also addressed the attendees.

The President was accompanied at the ceremony by the First Lady Madam Fathimath Ibrahim, members of the cabinet, some members of the parliament and governmental officials.
