State Dignitary Abdul Sattar Moosa Didi has passed away on Friday evening, in Bangkok, Thailand. He was 79 years of age, at the time of his demise.
On receiving the news of his passing away, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom telephoned the family of late Abdul Sattar Moosa Didi, and extended his condolences. In a telephone conversation, the President noted that it was with deep sadness that he received the news of late Abdul Sattar Moosa Didi’s passing. The President also highlighted late Abdul Sattar Moosa Didi’s invaluable services rendered to the nation, the Government and the people of Maldives.
Following the passing away of Abdul Sattar Moosa Didi, President Yameen has declared that the National Flag be flown at half-mast, from 28th November 2015 till the end of 30th November 2015. A Book of Condolence will also be placed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, honoring late Abdul Sattar Moosa Didi.
State Dignitary, late Abdul Sattar Moosa Didi began his employment in the Government on 5th February 1957 as Secretary at the Representative Office of the Maldives in Colombo. He has served the Government for more than 51 years since.
Late Abdul Sattar Moosa Didi has served in numerous senior positions of the Government, including various ministerial portfolios. He has served as the Minister of Finance, Minister of Education, Minister of Fisheries, and Minister of Health and Welfare. Other posts he took on include Vice President of the Maldives, Representative of the Maldives in Colombo, Permanent Representative of the Maldives at the UN, and Maldivian Ambassador appointed to the USA.
Late Abdul Sattar Moosa Didi’s most notable services include his unparalleled contribution to the Maldives’ securing full independence from British Protectorate status. The Late Abdul Sattar Moosa Didi had also contributed significantly to the political, social, and economic development of the Maldives.
On 26th July 2011, Abdul Sattar Moosa Didi was conferred the Order of Distinguished Rule of Izzuddeen.
Late Abdul Sattar Moosa Didi was survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.
