The non-resident Ambassador of Switzerland to the Maldives, Heinz Walker Neiderkoorn has presented his credentials to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, on Thursday morning.

At the ceremony held at the President’s Office to present the credentials, President Yameen congratulated Ambassador Neiderkoorn on the commencement of his term. Meeting the new Ambassador afterwards, the President expressed his hopes that the Maldives and Switzerland will work as a team in the areas of common interest.

President Yameen and Ambassador Neiderkoorn exchanged dialogue on the current political situation of Maldives. Discussions were also held on the issue of climate change, and other environmental concerns.

Speaking at the meeting, the Swiss Ambassador said that it was a privilege to be appointed as the Ambassador to the Maldives, and expressed his hope for further strenthening the bond between Maldives and Switzerland during his tenure.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Dunya Maumoon, and Minister at the President’s Office, Hon. Mohamed Hussain Shareef.
