President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has appealed to all individuals elected to public offices to set aside their political differences and be cooperative in carrying out developmental projects for the welfare of the people. The President made this appeal while speaking at the opening ceremony of the Landhoo Branch of Fenaka Corporation Limited, on Wednesday.

The President also called for the support and cooperation of all the citizens, in undertaking the Government’s developmental schemes.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Yameen reiterated that his administration did not discriminate against the people of an island based on their political support, when providing public services. Speaking in this regard, the President said that democracy encourages unity in serving the people, instead of hostility and opposition among those with political differences.

In his speech, the President said that every administration’s aim was to provide the basic facilities for its people, and to improve the country’s economic status. He also pointed out that neglecting the work being done in building our economy today, would lead to an irreversible decline in our national progress.
