President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of sympathy to President Barack Obama of the United States of America, following the deadly mudslide in Oso, Washington.

The President’s message reads as follows:

“I was deeply saddened to learn about the deadly mudslide in Oso, Washington, causing the loss of many innocent lives and injury to many more. While the search for survivors continues, we pray that, of those that remain unaccounted for so far, more victims can be saved.”

“At this time of tragedy, the Government and the people of the Maldives join me in sending our profound sympathy to you, the Government and people of the United States.”

“Please also convey our sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families, and our solidarity with the grieving residents of Oso and the rescue workers.”
