President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that the government was in talks with the judiciary, on ways to make the country’s justice system more efficient. The President made this remark while meeting the people of Addu City last evening.

Highlighting the high number of tasks ahead, the President noted that the government would not be able to complete all of its tasks within the first hundred days. He said that however, the first hundred days would pave the way for the government to reach major decisions on its main projects. Speaking in this regard, the President noted that some of the leading companies have expressed their interest in the Male’-Hulhumale’ bridge project.

In his speech, the President reiterated some of the government’s pledges, assuring the increase of the allowance for elderly above 65 years, and the introduction of the insurance scheme for fishermen, to ensure a monthly wage of MVR 10,000, regardless of the catch. He further said that farmers would be covered under a similar insurance scheme.

The President arrived back in Male’ today, following the conclusion of his trip to Addu City.
