At a function organized by the people of Fuvahmulah, to congratulate Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed on his election, the Vice President announced that Aasandha would be changed to an unlimited insurance scheme, starting January 2014.

Speaking at the function held Friday evening, the Vice President said that the government’s highest priority was to cater for the people, and that the government prioritizes its projects to ensure that the people’s needs were met. Speaking in this regard, the Vice President said that the people’s main concerns were tied to public services.

In his speech, the Vice President reiterated the government’s pledge to increase the allowance for elderly above 65 years, to MVR 5000. He said that the allowance would be provided under an insurance scheme in the future, of which arrangements were currently underway.

Vice President Jameel also highlighted the various projects the government has embarked on, as part of executing its social policy.

As part of his visit to Fuvahmulah, the Vice President met with members of the Gnaviyani Atoll Council, and the Head of the Fuvahmulah Police Station, and MNDF in-charge in Fuvahmulah. He also attended the road show held to conclude World AIDS Day programmes in Fuvahmulah.
