President Dr Mohamed Waheed has sent a message of sympathy to President of the Republic of the Philippines, Mr Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III, following the recent typhoon that hit the central islands of the Philippines.
The President’s message reads as follows.
“I was deeply grieved to learn of the loss of many innocent lives, injury to thousands of people and widespread devastation to property and infrastructure caused by Typhoon Haiyan that hit the central islands of the Philippines.”
“At this time of National distress, the Government and the people of Maldives join me in sending our profound sympathy to you, the Government and the people of Philippines. I wish the recovery efforts every success and commend the tenacity of the Filipino people in the face of such tragedy.”
“Please convey our sincere commiseration to the injured victims and the bereaved families.”
