The cabinet has recommended for the Maldives to sign the Maritime Labour Convention 2006. The decision was made, following deliberations on a paper presented by the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
At the meeting, members of the cabinet noted that being party to the convention would facilitate to ensure the rights of the seafarers working in foreign vessels and Maldivian vessels travelling to international ports, as provided for in the convention.
