President Dr Mohamed Waheed has this evening presented the National Award for Special Achievement. The awards were given at a official function held at Dharubaaruge, this evening.

Recipients of the National Award for Special Achievement received a medal and a certificate.

Twenty seven recipients were conferred the National Award for Special Achievement this year, including fifteen individuals for achieving the highest ranking position in a higher academic course or training course, and four individuals for achieving the highest academic qualification in the Maldives National Qualifications Framework.

The fifteen individuals who achieved the highest ranking position in a higher academic course or training course are:

Bachelor’s Degree:

1. Mr Abdulla Siyaz
2. Mr Fathuhulla Ahmed
3. Mr Mohamed Matheen
4. Ms Aminath Sausan Ahmed
5. Ms Aminath Sharuma
6. Ms Shifa Thawfeeq
7. Mr Anwar Ibrahim
8. Uz Suood Mohamed Fulhu
9. Ms Fareedha Mohamed

Post Graduate Certificate:

1. Ms Wadhoodha Ahmed
2. Ms Shakeela Hamid
3. Mr Ahmed Rasheed
4. Mr Ahmed Asim

Master’s Degree:

1. Mr Irufan Ahmed
2. Mr Idhrees Ismail

Recipients who were conferred the medal for achieving the highest academic qualification in the Maldives National Qualifications Framework are:

1. Dr Abdulla Firaq
2. Dr Mohamed Muizzu
3. Dr Ahmed Adham Abdulla
4. Dr Mizna Mohamed

Four individuals received the President’s Medal for achieving the the highest rank position in an international competition or exhibition. They are:

1. Mr Mohamed Aseel
2. Mr Ibrahim Fazeel
3. Mr Ali Ashfaq
4. Mr Ahmed Thoriq

Medals and certificates were also conferred to the National Football Team who won the SAF Championship 2008.

President Waheed also presented medal to Ms Fathimath Jeehan Saleem and the Diabetes Society of Maldives for special achievement in the area of innovation and creativity.

Fihaalhohi Island Resort won the medal for the resort for its efforts to achieve carbon neutrality.

In addition, President presented a special prize to Nazeeh Yauqoob Hussain, a student of Imaduddin School for achieving the Best Challenger in the sector of e-sports Intellectual Disabilities at the Global I.T. Challenge for Youth with Disabilities.

In his speech, President Dr Mohamed Waheed extended his congratulations and warm wishes to all the recipients of the National Award for Special Achievement.
