President Dr Mohamed Waheed has this evening presented the National Award of Honour and the National Award of Recognition. The awards were given at the official function held at Dharubaaruge this evening.
Recipients of the National Award of Honour received a shield of honour, a badge of honour and a commemorative plaque, while the recipients of the National Award of Recognition received a commemorative plaque and a certificate.
Three individuals received National Award of Honour this year. The three individuals are:
1. Sheikh Hussain Abdul Rahman for his contribution in the area of religious awareness and religious education
2. Mr Saeed Ali Fulhu for his contribution in the area of Dhivehi literature (Dhivehi Poetry)
3. Ms Aishath Zaeema Hassan Didi for her contribution in the area of social services.
The 11 recipients of the National Award of Recognition are:
1. Qari Mahmood Adam in the area of recitation and teaching of Quran
2. Warrant Officer Grade 3 Jaufar Abdul Rahman in the area of Maldivian History (Research of Maldivian history, writing books and promoting knowledge on Maldivian history).
3. Mr Abdulla Rasheed in the area of Social Services (Development of youth and services beneficial to the society)
4. Mr Hussain Nadhuvee in the area of Social Services (Humanitarian services)
5. Mr Mohamed Asif in the area of Information and News Dissemination (dissemination of information).
6. Mr Naseer Ismail in the area of Sports (Technical Service and Sports Development).
7. Mr Moosa Rasheed in the area of Sports (Technical Services and Sports Development).
8. Ms Aishath Nazima in the area of Sports (Professional sportsperson)
9. Mr Ahmed Naeem in the area of Visual Arts (Artist).
10. Mr Hussain Sobah in the area of Performing Arts (Music).
11. Iyaaru Quran Class for its services in Teaching the Quran.
In his speech, President Dr Mohamed Waheed extended his congratulations and warm wishes to all the recipients of National Awards.
