President Dr Mohamed Waheed has this afternoon inaugurated the road construction project of Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held in Kudahuvadhoo, President Waheed said it was the government’s priority to develop the roads of many islands as possible. He said the roads developed under the project would be of a higher standard, and that the project would be undertaken at a faster pace than any other such projects conducted in the Maldives.

In this regard, President Waheed said that approximately 50 kilometers of road would be constructed in six islands under this project. He also noted that an additional 16 kilometer road would be built in Laamu Gan, under the Chinese government assistance.

Highlighting the ongoing developmental projects of the island, President gave assurance that he would continue such developmental projects with diligence and without any hesitation.

After the inauguration ceremony, President Waheed visited the housing units being constructed for the people of Dhaalu Vaanee, who were transferred to Kudahuvadhoo following the tsunami.
