President Nasheed has established Upper North Utilities Limited and appointed members to its Board of Directors. The company was established as a government company with hundred percent government shares. Establishing this company would facilitate more convenient delivery of services, including electricity, water supply, sewerage system and cooking gas.
Mr Abdul Latheef Gasim was appointed as the Chairman of the Board. Other members appointed to the Board are Mr Abdulla Waheed, Mr Ali Rasheed, Mr Ali Ismail, Mr Shahid Saleem; Mr Ali Mohamed and Mr Ahmed Shafeeq.
The President also today appointed members to the Board of Directors of the Waste Management Corporation Limited. Mr Mahmood Mohamed was appointed as the Chairman of the Board. Other members appointed to the Board are Mr Adam Abdul Ghafoor, Ms Mariyam Waheeda, Mr Abdul Azeez Abdul Hakeem and Mr Hassan Mohamed.
In addition, the Government has appointed members to the Board of Directors of Dhivehi Rajjeyge Gulhun Private Limited.
Ms Juwairiyya Saeed was appointed as the Chairperson of the Board. Other members appointed to the Board are Mr Mohamed Amir, Mr Ahmed Zareer and Ms Saeeda Khalid.
