President Nasheed has decided to move some of the government’s literary, artistic and research institutions to the Presidential Palace, Theemugé. The offices that Theemugé will house include the National Centre for Historical and Linguistic Research, the National Library, National Art Gallery, Marine Research Centre and the chancellor’s office and senate office of the National University, which is to be established.

Work to move these offices to Theemugé has already started.

The President made this decision in order to monitor more closely the work being carried out by these institutions.
